Musculoskeletal (MSK) Specialists may work within your GP surgery alongside GPs and other healthcare professionals. They are specially trained clinicians who assess, diagnose, and manage conditions affecting the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons.
Depending on your symptoms, they may assess you over the telephone or in a face-to-face appointment. They can request X-rays where appropriate and provide advice on managing your condition, including recommending targeted exercises to help improve your symptoms and support your recovery.
Working with you, they will agree the most appropriate treatment plan based on your individual needs. This may include self-management advice, referral for further investigations, referral to community or hospital-based services, or discussing medication options with your GP where appropriate.
