Pharmacy Technicians may work as part of the healthcare team within our surgeries.
Their role can vary between practices to meet the needs of the local patient population.
They work closely with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, and other members of the practice team to support the safe and effective use of medicines.
As part of their role, Pharmacy Technicians also work with Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) Medicines and pharmacy – NHS Essex Integrated Care Board to help ensure that medicines are prescribed and used safely, appropriately, and in line with NHS guidance.
This may include supporting patients with medication reviews, reducing unnecessary medicine waste, managing medicine shortages, monitoring medicines that require shared care arrangements, and promoting the safe use of medicines, including those with a risk of dependency.
A Pharmacy Technician may contact you on behalf of your healthcare team to discuss your medication, answer any questions you may have, or help make sure your medicines continue to meet your clinical needs.
They work closely with your GP and other healthcare professionals to support the best possible outcomes from your treatment.
